July 23, 2010 - Telephone Credit Card Scam

We have recieved notification from several members that have recieved automated phone calls claiming to be from Champlain Valley Creidt Union, and in some instances another credit union name is used.  The message states that your credit union credit card has been deactivated due to security concerns and asks for your credit card number and additional security information.

IF YOU RECEIVE ONE OF THESE CALLS, DO NOT RESPOND OR GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION.  IT IS A SCAM TRYING TO GET YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION.  IF YOU HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED ONE OF THESE CALLS AND HAVE GIVEN OUT YOUR CARD INFORMATION, CALL THE CREDIT UNION IMMEDIATELY AT (802) 879-7747.
