PAY YOUR BILLS ONLINE - IT'S EASIER AND SAFER
Why write checks and pay postage to mail your bills when, with the click of a button, you safely can pay online?
Online bill payment saves you the bother of hand writing checks and envelopes each month. You'll save on postage too, and online transactions via secure Web sites are much safer than mailing checks. Paper checks can be stolen--or your account information compromised--during the several points they're handled in the mail or during processing. With today's identity theft issues, that's a real concern.
Online bill pay is really easy to set up.
CVCU has a demo button for online bill payment on our HFS site or you can sign up for an online bill payment seminar with Elaine every Tuesday at 3pm at the credit union office.
Online bill payment is free when you have a credit union checking account, HFS, E-statements and direct deposit. You just enter your service providers' information on the credit union Web site, and then schedule bills to be paid automatically on certain days each month. Or you can go to the site and pay each bill whenever you wish. Either way, the amount transfers electronically from your checking account to the service providers. If the providers don't accept electronic payments, a paper check is sent on your behalf.
You should check your account balances and payment daily or at least several times a week, and make sure you use a computer with robust security. With those precautions, online bill payment is perfectly safe; plus, it's easier than you think.

IS YOUR TEEN HEADED OFF TO COLLEGE?
Bring them into the credit union office to sign them up for online banking, a debit card and a small VISA card for emergencies. This will allow them the summer to practice using the debit card to get all the kinks out prior to their leaving and using it on their own.
With you jointly on their credit union account and VISA card, you can also monitor their use and deposit funds to their account when necessary.
This will give them a head start on their fellow college students and help them avoid the on-campus credit card solicitations.
RELAX - WELCOME HOME
You might not know it from the daily news, but this is a good time to apply for a home loan.
The bad news headlines about mortgages mostly tell about homeowners who made risky mortgages with other lenders--lenders who want a loan on the books even if it's a bad deal for you.
We don't operate that way. You're a member, a part owner of the credit union. It's important to us that you can live with your loan.
Rates still are low and payments can be manageable. A credit union mortgage officer can explain your options, so your payment is one you truly can live with.
Call us today to start your home loan process.
And just to lend a little encouragement to you, the credit union will give out $100 Gas Cards at closing to CU members with new mortgage applications of at least $150,000 approved in May.
TRAVELERS CHECKS DISCONTINUED
As of May 1st, the credit union will no longer be selling travelers checks. As they do not have an expiration date, you can use the ones you have – just keep them in a safe place.
What to do when traveling?
Use your CU Check Card and your Credit Union VISA card. Just notify us before you leave the country.
